TRIP INTRODUCTION
The Poon Hill Trek is one of the most popular short
treks in the Annapurna region, ideal for travelers
seeking spectacular Himalayan views without long or
strenuous walking days. Starting from Pokhara, the
trail winds through charming villages, terraced
farmlands, and lush rhododendron forests—especially
vibrant in spring.
This trek offers close encounters with the Gurung and
Magar communities, particularly in the beautiful
village of Ghandruk, renowned for its culture and
legendary Gurkha heritage. The highlight is the
sunrise from Poon Hill (3,210 m), where panoramic
views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges reward
every step of the journey. The trek concludes at
Nayapul before returning to Pokhara.

PRE-TRIP ESSENTIALS:
HEALTH: No special vaccinations are required for travel
to Nepal; however, we recommend consulting your
doctor before departure and carrying all necessary
personal medications. Medical facilities are limited in
mountain regions, so preparation is important.
Travelers who wear glasses or contact lenses should
bring a spare pair.
MOUNTAIN SICKNESS: Although this trek reaches
moderate elevations, altitude-related symptoms can
occur above 2,500 meters. Common signs include
headache, fatigue, loss of appetite, disturbed sleep, or
mild swelling. Proper acclimatization, a slow walking
pace, and adequate hydration (2–4 liters per day) are
essential. If symptoms persist or worsen, immediate
descent—even a few hundred meters—can be highly
effective. Always follow the guidance of your trekking
guide.
WEATHER: Mountain weather is unpredictable. Days
can be warm and sunny, while mornings and
evenings are often cold and windy, particularly at
higher elevations. Sudden rain showers or occasional
snow flurries are possible, so layered clothing and
weather protection are strongly recommended.
PACKING: Packing smartly ensures a comfortable trek.
Focus on practical and lightweight clothing rather
than luxury items. Recommended items include a
warm fleece or down jacket, thermal underwear,
warm socks, comfortable trekking pants, and
waterproof trekking boots. Lightweight shoes or
sandals are useful for evenings. Most trekking gear
can be purchased or rented in Kathmandu and
Pokhara at reasonable prices, and we are happy to
advise you based on current conditions.
THINGS THAT YOU BEAR: Porters are subject to strict
weight limits. Any bag carried by a porter must not
exceed 15 kg. Your personal daypack should include
only essentials such as water, camera, sunscreen, rain
or warm layers, basic toiletries, and personal valuables.
EMERGENCY AND YOUR SUPPORT TEAM: All our
trekking guides are trained in first aid and altitude
safety, and each group carries a basic first-aid kit.
Comprehensive travel insurance covering trekking
and emergency evacuation is mandatory. In the event
of an emergency, evacuation will be arranged to a
recognized medical facility in Kathmandu, and
coordination with your insurance provider will be
handled promptly.
Simply share your travel preferences, interests, and
available time. Our experts will design a personalized
itinerary and handle all details, ensuring a comfortable
and memorable journey tailored to you.
